The parklet2go is a unique, compact, pop-up parklet. The mobile urban furniture ensemble consists of two benches, a table, a plant bed, four enclosures, a sign, two rugs, and a potted tree. In the blink of an eye, the parklet2go can be stowed on a trailer and easily moved around the city by bike.
The parklet2go can be used for many tactical applications in public space: to create participatory places, temporary “streateries”, or meeting places for social and youth work. This pop-up parklet provides a welcoming and high-quality communication space and a platform for all kinds of people engaged in urban space. The parklet2go enables the temporary transformation of public spaces with high aesthetic appeal and low logistical effort.
Possible areas of application for the parklet2go include: urban planning, (local) politics, participation, social work, extracurricular child and youth care, urban research, neighborhood initiatives, associations, traders, house communities, cultural projects, private businesses, and more..
The first prototype of the parklet2go was built in 2019 and tested in various applications in Vienna. The project was awarded "Best Mobility ACTION 2019" by the European Mobility Week. LAUT revised the design in early 2020 to make the parklet2go suitable for small batch production in order to make it more easily available to a wide range of actors. Both the prototype and the concept were exhibited at the museum for applied arts (MAK Vienna) during the climate care exhibition in 2021.
*The parklet2go prototype was initially designed and built by Georg Wieser for Smarter Than Car and revisited by the co-founders of LAUT in the run-up to the founding of our firm.
